It doesn't matter what team you are a fan of.... everyone who loves baseball appreciated and loved Ernie Banks.
He was a unique combination of talent, character and personality for the game of baseball. The endearing enthusiastic smile and his "lets play two" attitude revealed a genuine love of the game. Even though he played most of his career on horrible Cubs teams Ernie was always upbeat.
One of my all time favorite players, a giant in the game; he was an even bigger human being.
