Europeans express their happiness differently than Americans.  We're macho pigs with a superiority complex and a need for more goals,TD's and homers.  When the US under 20 team wins the U20 World Cup that is going on right now, the game will only further it's popularity past hockey and baseball.
Except soccer isn't nearly as popular as hockey and baseball in the U.S.
Our Batman,
Who art in Batcave,
Bruce Wayne be thy name.
Thy Wayne Manor come, thy justice be done,
In Arkham as it is in Blackgate.
And give us this day our daily Nightwing,
And beat down the Joker,
As Robin beats down Two Face,
Who trespasses against us.
And lead us not into Crime Alley,
But deliver us from Joe Chill.
Amen.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10354114/harris-poll-nfl-most-popular-mlb-2nd

Notice, soccer doesn't even make the cut

That's what is your favorite sport to watch.  It's only people 18 and over.

Look at this:

http://www.livestrong.com/article/99949-popular-youth-sports/

This is what are the most popular youth sports to play.

Soccer isn't watched in this country for a couple of obvious reasons.  First there is no national television contract to broadcast the games.  Why? Bc American soccer is like the "minor league" of world soccer.  The best teams/clubs with the best players are in Europe and South America. It's like a thinking a minor league baseball or hockey team/league will get a national television deal.  They won't. If those clubs ever decide to expand to America (like the NFL is trying to do in other places) then you will see it change.

If you want to compare apples to apples then here are the "most popular" (ie most watched) then here are the ones world wide

No one is arguing that soccer isn't the most popular sport worldwide. But it's not as popular as baseball and hockey in the U.S.

Again, define "popular".  If you are talking about watched by 18 year olds and older. You are correct. If you are talking about played by people under 18 you are incorrect.

haha, aren't you the one that asked me to prove that soccer was the most popular and played sport in the world.  Then I did and you said it didn't count.

and that poll is wrong.....the most watched sporting event in the US is the super bowl and a soccer game of high importance.  not hockey or baseball, but football and futbol.

...or bowling, racquetball, NASCAR, beer pong or golf.  If you take AYSO and illegal alien immigrants out of the number, curling is more popular.

Nice outfit, Baby.

This seems a bit far fetched but I hope it is true:

As photos from the set of "Captain America: Civil War" have slowed to none this week with production having likely moved onto the sound stages at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, a new rumor has surfaced over at MCU Exchange which deals with one of the surprise returnees for the upcoming film.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD
Last month came word that not only is Paul Rudd showing up in his "Ant-Man" garb in the film, but William Hurt would be reprising his role from 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.
Now, the new report suggests that we will see General Ross transform into the Red Hulk in the movie, and he will engage in a battle with the current Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in a fight scene that is said to be akin to the recent Hulk vs. Iron Man Hulkbuster scene from "Avengers: Age of Ultron".
Mark Ruffalo has NOT been mentioned in regards to the film's cast, though the actor has vaguely teased a potential return for "Captain America: Civil War".

Pinewood Studios has been a very busy place lately.
