And my point is Rome the re[public failed to be just that.  by comparison it makes America's failure not look all that bad.

Do you have any solutions, F&L, or are you just going to rant all of your complaints all day?

What complaints?

It was a boring read.

Did you read it in the original Greek, or some iffy translation?

In Rome, the proof of citizenship was wearing an iron ring.

In Amer-ika, citizenship is proven by publishing a long form birth certificate.

In Rome, low brow oafs formed sodalities, and spent all day blathering at their local taverna.

In Amer-ika, Dumbasses...well, you know....

This is about Republics.

Start your own Empire thread, Slick.

re·pub·lic
rəˈpəblik/
noun
a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.

FYI

Nice outfit, Baby.

In Rome, water distribution to the masses was achieved using lead joints, which articulated outward from the mains. The lead salts in the water poisoned the populace.

In Amer-ika, the water is poisoned with fluorides in a blatant, commie regulatory attempt to impoverish dentists.

In Rome, a person's auctoritas was defined by the numbers of clients he towed.

In Amer-ika, it's by the number of lobbyists in tow.

In Rome, slaves were a source of great wealth, since they were used as human machines/appliances, and could be maintained cheaply by providing a minimal room/board.

Amer-ika's right-to-work states are similar except that the slaves have to provide for their own room/board.

In Rome, Lucius Cornelius Sulla used his legions to put down attempts to give the plebes more leverage against the Senate, had himself named Dictator for Life, and proscribed all the rich and confiscated their wealth.

In Amer-ika, Obama is named dictator for attempting to save beaners from being deported.

The latest news: When Obama's term is over he is going to run for president of Mexico. True story.

In Rome, wealthy citizens had to hire gladiators to protect them from the poor scum when they went out at night.

In Amer-ika, the poor scum need protection against the chamber-o-commerce's gladiators police.
