Only par of the day.  Shot 116 from the Blacks.   Glad it was opposite from where my tee shot landed (small bailout area eight feet left rear of the green).  I can be quite focused when looking for my ball

I have played Golf all over SoCal and have never actually seen a rattler this close to the actual "through the green" course.

Nice outfit, Baby.

Interesting hazzard !! I hate a damn Rattler..you can walk by him two or three times and he won't bite you. The third time he'll nail your ass !! I wear polarized sun glasses at all times while feeding livestock and dogs !!

Wind is straight in your face so I used my 4 hybrid and drew it a little too far to get a birdie.  Glad I don't push it like I used to.

I have to admit, I was not focused on the cellphone screen.  I was focused on a different type of "bailout" possibility. I figured the snake had just eaten because one of the guys (the one with obvious ADD) held his driver head up to the snake and it reared it's head but didn't strike or move away.  Just rattled louder.

Nice outfit, Baby.

It's going to take more than that to scare a rattler away.

Why do you torture yourself by playing the blacks?

The course I play in the foothills here (Eagle Crest) has rattlesnakes. I have only seen small dead ones in the 15 years I have played there. I have also seen wild turkeys, deer and coyotes.

Obama and Tiger Woods? Just throw a sheet over your head and you could still beat them.

Reminds me of marriage and why I probably should not do it again.  Some great moments but a wee bit of torture all too often.

And I did hit a nine iron to lay up on the first tee.  200-240 yards would put me right in the barranca. Hence, "Cross Creek" means more than one thing here. (A pitching wedge layup on the second. (I was not the only one in our group, either)  After that, easie peasie.

Blue Herons and ducks and coots, oh my!   Normal out here but San Vicente has a "flock" of wild turkeys.  I have seen two toms and around a dozen hens.  Always on the back nine.  Any old place they just pop up.  Normally around the tee boxes.

Nice outfit, Baby.

I have no idea if this BS but I have heard in Arizona and New Mexico on the desert courses if your ball goes out of bounds to leave it and play another because of the possibility of rattlers.

BEAUFORT, S.C. -- Officials say an alligator bit off part of
a golfer's arm as he leaned over to pick up his ball at a private
South Carolina course.

The man, who is in his 70s, was retrieving his ball from a pond
when the 10-foot alligator bit him at Ocean Creek Golf Course in
Beaufort County. The gator pulled the golfer into the pond and
ripped off his arm in the struggle. His golf partners were able to
free him.

Wildlife workers killed the alligator and retrieved the arm in
the hopes it might be reattached.

The man has not been identified. He was being treated at the
Medical University of South Carolina, but officials there would not
release any information about him.

A call to the golf course was not immediately returned.

Down here they hire divers to search all water hazards for Gators before season starts.

Chickenshits are not allowed on any golf course that measures more than 6,800 yards from the tips.  I find nine iron to be the club of choice when visiting the rough to find errant balls.   Just long enough and heavy enough to whack serpents with...
