This is a true story.
Me and my dad were fishing on a watershed lake down the road from our house. There were lilly pads all over this lake, so I was using a grass frog thrown on top of the lily pads since it was weedless. Something kept striking at it, but it wouldn't ever take the lure.
I finally let it take it. It ran for a good 20 seconds or so before I set the hook, and I mean I set the steel to it. This sucker pulled and fought harder than anything I had ever hooked before. I get it almost to the boat, and all I can see is this huge mouth before it went back deeper in the water. We don't have those crystal clear waters down here.
I fought it back to the front of the boat where my dad had the dip net. He got it out of the water, and to my utmost suprise, I didn't have that wall hanger hooked that I thought I had. I had caught a bullfrog. With it's legs stretched out, it measured 29 inches from it's mouth to it's feet. That's one fishing trip I'll never forget.
