Fresh fish is better plus you know it is the real thing. You don't really know what you get at the store rofl

And yes I mainly fish northern pike with tip ups and jig for blue gill or perch

Im trying something new for ice shack runners this year.

I got a couple pieces of those clear plastic strips that are used as a walk/drive through barrier on refer coolers. Stuff is slippery yet flexible and will be screwed to my doubled 2x4 skis/runners. It should be rugged enough to absorb impact while dragging the shack around the lake.

Still gotta create some kind of lifting "wing" to keep the nose up in deep snow though.

You and your projects GB. I hope it works out for ya!!

I gave up my shack this year. Too much patching up.. I will either have to ice fish at the cottage or when it isn't too windy.

I waited 38 years to have my own shack and last year was AWESOME!!

Now I just gotta fine tune it for this season, and make it more user-freindly. Ice is forming fast up here!

(broke my tow point, so now I gotta fix that first dammit)

Haha well good for you. And good luck fine tuning it lol

Same here, there is plenty of ice to fish on.. Not quite enough for a shanty or vehicle.

Still not enough ice on my home lake to attempt dragging a 200 pound shack out there, only 3 inches of ice 100 yards out. Then it becomes paper thin.

I finally have my shiner tank going though, and dumped in my first trappings today. Cant wait to check the trap again in the morning!

Got a pile of bait fish trapped now.

One more haul and I should be set for the ice fishing season at around 14 dozen.

Waiting for ice.......

I've been wanting to go hard water fishing, but not being a fan of the cold makes it difficult to go. Plus there isn't much of interest to fish for.
I post for food or money...thank you

hard water fishing? Is that the same as ice fishing? lol

Went out middle of last week. Put some tip-ups out and jigged. 2 flags both minnows chomped at but no fish. Caught 4 small blue gill jigging, didn't keep them.

Not a great day fishing and it was real cold and windy but good to get out and shake the dust off.

Yeah, ice fishing.

Last time I went it was -20+. Our thermometer stopped at -20. My rod froze to my lips.

Errrrrrr........maybe you shouldnt have your rod on your lips. LOL

Went out for a quick-fish today and also to do some scouting. Only caught 2 yellow perch. (left them for the eagles to snack on) BUT.......there is enough ice to drag the shack out, so Im getting the prime real estate tomorrow before everybody else shows up!
