Too many guns.  If it wasn't for the NRA and desensitization to violence this sort of thing wouldn't happen.
Get off it BCincy. The gun wasnt crazy, the shooter was.

Timothy Mc Vay killed more people when he blew up the OKC Federal Building and he diudnt use a single gun. Just a truck full of diesel fuel and fertilizer. 9/11 hijackers used four hijacked jets. Jim Jones used kool aid laced with cynaide.

Big run on bump stocks. Three monthsa ago they were sitting on gun shop shelves gathering dust and after Las Vegas, all gun shops have sold out. People buy things that they think is gonna be banned in the near future.

a normal fully automatic rifle fires around 98 rounds in 7 seconds. The weapon used in Vegas with a bump stock fired around 90 rounds in 10 seconds, whereas a regular AR15 fires around 30 rounds in 10 seconds

That sort of thing just makes no sense to me.  It doesn't matter if it has to do with guns or anything else.
Why buy something one has never had any interest in just because something one has never had an interest in may become unavailable?

Beautiful day in the Black Hills.  More fall-like weather arriving tomorrow, with the first freeze Monday night.  Maybe a hard freeze.

Much needed shutout win for the Penguins, but Ian Cole, the guy in my avatar, didn't return after blocking a slapshot with his face.  They were scraping blood off the ice.  What a gamer..hope he didn't shatter his jaw.

What is Dumbass rednecks?

It isn't just dumbass rednecks, though.
All sorts of people decide they're suddenly interested in things if they think they, at some point, will not longer be able to get them.
It reminds me of kids who have no interest in a particular toy until some other kids starts playing with it.

Memphis put 70 points and 711 total yards on UCONN, but Navy is next Saturday in the Liberty Bowl. Hope we hold Navy under 500 rushing. Whoever has the ball last will win this one in a mega shootout.

Smokey day in the Bay Area.
There are a bunch of fires up in the wine country, and the winds have been from the northeast, so it's blowing smoke and ash southwest.
It did make for an extraordinary sunrise.  The sun appeared almost hot pink and the way the light filtered through the smoke made it a strange color.  It's still kind of a bizarre out there.  When I walked outside, the smoke was almost overwhelming.  It also took me a minute to figure out what the white flakes were that were drifting down.

Good morning my sweet feline.

Yeah, we had a lot of what you are describing a while back from the Canadian wildfires.  It is unique to say the least.

Good afternoon my sweet ... 80's video game character.  grin1

The winds are forecast to die down and shift sometime today, so hopefully that will help with the smoke and ash.  More importantly, the winds dying down should help the firefighters battle the blazes.

Yep.
It seems like the winds have shifted a bit, plus died down some.
That's good especially because it should help the firefighters be able to make a dent in the fires.
It also should make it easier to breathe.

Found out a bit ago some folks I know had to evacuate, and I'm just hoping they have homes to which to return.

There's been a teeny bit of containment, but the air is so bad and has been for long enough, schools ... pubic, private, and colleges and universities ... all over the place, and fairly far from the fires, are being closed.

That sucks.  Terrible smell and air quality.
