who gives a RATT'S azz. Bands are separated by studio and tour. show and live. Some metal bands are show, some are live. Metallica, Iron maiden, Testament, Slayer, bridge the gap.  Metallica is awesome anyway you cut it.

Metallica is good.

In Rolling Stone today there is a new song by Phish called The Line about Darius Washington, jr missing those free throws against Louisville.

I have nothing against Phish...
Talented musicians...nice guys...
But because of some of their fans, I can't help but roll my eyes almost every time I see something about the band.

Did I ever mention the Jamison part of the family?, they tinker in scotch. Not too bad either.

I don't like some of the fans either fake asses. I was at a concert a year or two after college and I had short hair and with some fraternity brothers, this dude behind me around 20 years old made the snide remark that my favorite song was probably Sample In a Jar......meaning their radio song. I turned around and called him a snobbish bullshit fan and that I had been going to shows since before he even discovered Phish. My first show was at 14. Funny thing, same show a hot girl in front of me turned around and put extascy on her tongue and kissed me.

Same thing happens to me when I went to metal shows and got into mosh pits. I don't look the part.

Those are the same ones who try to tell people they understand the whole Grateful Dead thing because they've seen some Phish shows.
They may have a hint of an idea, but they'll never understand.

It took me a few shows to "get it" but gotdamn I enjoyed the fugg out of myself before, during, and after getting it. Thing is. I have treated every show I have been to since those days as if I was at a Dead show. I'm sure it was strange to some watching a dude "groove out" at a Tool show. If it has a groove anywhere in it, I am going to find it and dance to it. My body just starts doing it. It's like breathing.

My buddy thought GD shows was more like a family, while Phish has a family like atmosphere but not the same. A lot of Phish fans are there for the drugs.

I met the band(newsted)  back on Damaged Justice tour. And I have seen Burton live in '86
