Ohio State Buckeyes
« on: May 24, 2013, 10:04:03 AM »
Beating Michigan & Notre Dame on the same day makes me smile.  It's not in the article, but Michigan was going after Booker as well.

http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2013/05/24/0524-ohio-state-football.html

Dante Booker became the third linebacker in the 2014 Ohio State recruiting class yesterday, picking the Buckeyes over Notre Dame.

Booker, from Akron St.Vincent-St.Mary, is 6 feet 3 and 210 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds. He made a call to OSU defensive line coach Mike Vrabel.
"He made it a three-way call with Coach (Urban) Meyer, and I told (them) I was picking Ohio State," said Booker, the ninth member of OSU’s 2014 class. "I had been thinking about it a lot recently, and I decided now was the time to do it."
Booker, a consensus four-star prospect, is ranked No.4 nationally among outside linebacking prospects by 247sports.com and 10th by rivals.com. He had offers from at least 14 schools, but it boiled down to OSU and Notre Dame.
"The difference was the size of the schools," he said. "I just think it’s going to be great to be playing in front of more than 100,000 for my home-state school."

IMO the Buckeyes will take back over the B-10/11/12 again with Meyer.  Not surprising he's getting the better recruits over the other teams in the league.  He's one of the best in the game.

I hope E Gordan Gee knows what he is doing.  One would hope he does w/ nearly $2 million a year in salary.
Maybe no press is bad press in the big picture but it's maybe a bit annoying to the Buckeye fans nearly every time Gee gets in the news.

Ohio Stadium expansion?

2500 seat expansion proposed to Ohio Stadium.
I think they're going to freaking close in the Horseshoe & that should not be done, IMO.

http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2013/05/31/additional-2500-seats-proposed-for-stadium.html

sources said the new seating sections are expected to bridge the gaps over the ramps in the southeast and southwest corners.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State University Gordon Gee (GHEE') is retiring following the revelation of recorded remarks in which he criticized Notre Dame, Roman Catholics and the Southeastern Conference.

The university announced Tuesday that Gee is retiring as of July 1

Wow.  He's said so many dumb things before I didn't really see this coming.

I think it just had to happen. You're right, he's said a lot of really stupid things before, but he represents one of the largest schools in the world. It's one thing to say those things in a bar with friends but, when you're the President of a major university, that can't be done. The price you pay for power.

I know this is a basketball note but I'm not sure if I want to start another thread where it's mostly me talking to myself:

D'Angelo Russell to Ohio State: Buckeyes Land 5-Star SG Prospect

He picked OSU over Louisville.  The 2014 class might be a pretty decent class.  Maybe not Fab 5 or Thad 5 level, though.

After reading the descriptions from fall practices I am hoping to see a team that is capable of beating every team in the NCAA.

The questions I seem to see are a) O-line & b) Linebacker depth.
WR no longer seems to be an issue & QB passing / decision making no longer seems to be as well from what I've been reading.
